Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is almost here: OPENING DAY OF BOATING SEASON! And what would Opening Day be without its headliner event, the Windermere Cup? On May 2 head on down to the Montlake Cut for the 29th annual Windermere Cup Regatta and watch the University of Washington men take on New Zealand (current world champions) and Columbia University. The UW women will test their stuff against the University of Virginia. After we watch our Huskies win, stick around for the Seattle Yacht Club’s Opening Day Boat Parade. This year’s regatta will include 21 races featuring athletes ages 14-70. More than 800 rowers earn a spot to compete in this prestigious event, which culminates with the women’s and men’s Windermere Cup races. Basically, the only reason not to come is if you’re allergic to fun.
